Isn't this little book adorable? Click to see it in the shop.

Every week it is my extreme pleasure to introduce you to a fellow Etsy seller. This week, I’m tickled to introduce Edi Royer of Memories for Life Scrapbooks. Her work is sooo adorable!

What is your first name and where are you from? (State or country only please)

Edi-Iowa

What type of art or craft do you create and how did you get involved with it?

I got my start paper crafting through 4-H. I started making handmade greeting cards and branched out into scrapbooking. I love anything to do with paper :) I make premade scrapbooks, mini albums, Custom Name Albums and other paper crafting items.

What’s the name of your Etsy shop and when did you open for business?

Memories for Life Scrapbooks got its start on Etsy in January 2008.

What about your family? Are you married? Do you have kids? How do they feel about your business?

I have been with my boyfriend Jesse for over 10.5 years and we have one super cute dog named Harley :) He is very supportive of my scrapbooking and gives me the time I need to get my work done. My family (parents/extended family) are all very supportive as well. They’re great!

If you’re married with children, how do you juggle being a wife, a mom and a business owner / crafter?

No kids, but I work a full time job with lots of overtime right now. It’s hard to fit it all in some days! I always make sure I have my ToDo list ready and my priorities in order. That way I know exactly what needs to get done that day. We also eat a lot of casseroles and leftovers so I don’t have to cook everyday…lol :)

What are the goals you have for your Etsy shop? Would you like to see it be your full time income, is it your full time income or do you just enjoy it as a hobby.

I would love nothing more than to turn my business into a full-time job. Right now that isn’t a possibility and I have to be realistic with my goals. Right now I enjoy doing it on the side. I love coming home from work and being able to do something creative everyday :)

What tips or hints do you have for those just starting out or who are considering opening a shop or who are struggling with their existing shops?

Be patient and use the slow times to work on your listings/photos/descriptions/etc. Don’t expect to start making sales right away. It takes time for people to start seeing you. You must advertise and get your name out there. Participate in the forums, start a blog, facebook, etc.
Photos are a key part of selling online and one that I am always working on. Mine aren’t perfect by any means, but I learn as I go. Read tutorials and learn how to use your camera.
My best piece of advice: Have fun in the process :) Love what you do!
